The story of the Valley of the Mist Farm begins back in the mid 1960's when Len and LaVerna Nyberg began looking for a small farm somewhere near Rockford. After having both grown up on farms, and having had a dairy farm on Perryville Road near Cherry Valley, they both longed to get back to a farm setting.
One day they discovered a beautiful 54 acre farm not far from the Rockford Airport - complete with a large dairy barn, tillable acres and a pasture with a very nice creek flowing through it.
In 1966 the move was made from the house on Newburg Road to the Valley of the Mist on Kishwaukee Road.
In 1987 Dan and Connie Nyberg moved back to Valley of the Mist along with their three children, Mark, Marta and Matt. In 2010 Dan began the move to Devon cattle - a breed known for excellence in grass finishing.
In 2011 Dan and Connie's son, Matt, and wife, Marissa, moved back to the farm. Matt is focusing on pasture raised poultry - an enterprise which fits well with grass fed beef!
